Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area signed into law
According to the Nogales International, ‘The 3,300-square-mile Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area stretches from the watershed of the Santa Cruz River around Nogales and Patagonia, north to Tucson and Marana. The area’s official heritage status will allow its leaders to apply for matching federal funds for projects that help preserve its agricultural, cultural and historical identities.’
‘The Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area will be added to a roster of 49 existing national heritage areas around the United States. Only one other – the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area, which covers seven square miles along the Lower Colorado River – is in Arizona.’
